There are artists I don't listen to anymore, even though I really enjoyed their music at one time, simply because they conjure up memories I don't want to think about anymore. I haven't heard Can't Take My Eyes Off You, by Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, in y e a r s.
I've now randomly heard the song play twice in the last 24 hours. It takes me right back to the very minute of dancing in my white dress with my brand new husband and how happy I was at that exact moment. What else could go through my mind when I hear that song?
And then I gag.
